I Love to Talk and Smile

In the last week, Gavin has been sharing his version of talking - gooing, cooing, smiling, small yelps, etc. It has melted our hearts and we can't get enough of it. However, it is very hard to get this on video because once he sees the big shiny silver and black thing in his face - he just stares and it and is trying to figure out what the heck it is. However, we did manage to get some recent video of him repeating after Daddy (we think he is brillant again...) and talking/smiling... we love it!

My New Toy - The Bumbo

Gavin has developed much more strength in holding his head up - so that meant time for the Bumbo! Merret, our next door neighbor let us borrow her Bumbo - yes the blue object in the video is a Bumbo, which is a foam chair that babies can learn to sit up on their own in. Also - it comes with a tray for them to play with their toys and eat food off of too.... we are not at the food stage but definitely working up to the toys. And - we love how he is "talking" and smiling now - we can't get enough of it. He looks like a little boy in this video... our baby is getting bigger by the minute!!!

Mommy (Stacy) is addicted to blogging

In case you all have not noticed, Stacy is addicted to blogging. I figured out how to start it, post the first few times, get pictures up, get videos up and then I encouraged Stacy to post as well and send her the ability to post. She tried a few times, learned how to do pictures, and finally videos and now she is a crazy blogging machine. Hey, there could be many worse things in the world and worse addictions to be sure, but at least for now, everyone should be content in the fact that they will receive many updates in the form of commentary, pics and videos for Gavin as he continues to grow. Just wait until he starts doing more!!!

Seriously, it really shows Mommy's passion about the Gav-ster and I love her for it. She loves to document him and share him and her excitement with everyone. I love Gavin, I love her, what a great family!!!

Sometimes, Gavin even gets to participate in the blogging:

Lots of "Girly" Time

We were so excited that Maria & Kathryn (Stacy's best friends from college) came to visit Gavin. He got to enjoy a full weekend listening to MANY "girly" conversations - from motherhood, the latest celebrity gossip to all the fun memories we enjoy reminiscing about from the "good old days" - we always love our girls weekends to catch up and spend time with each other. Now Gavin will get to enjoy them sometimes too. Janet & Ella (they live in Cincinnati) joined in on the fun - so the way I look at - we will definitely be raising a boy that knows how to be around women and how to treat them.... that is a good thing! Thanks for coming to visit Aunt Maria & Aunt Kathryn.... hope to see you soon! And - Gavin can't wait to meet Logan, Nicholas & Michael too!

Shots are no Fun

Today we went to see Gavin's peditrician - Dr. Lacker for his 2 month check-up. We are proud to report that Gavin is now 11 pounds 14 ounces and is 23 inches long..... so he is definitely growing. (Dec. report -10 lbs. and 22 inches long). He is in the 50th percentile for height and weight - good job Gavin! And.... his head is a little bigger - in the 75th percentile... but like our Dr. said - that means he is very collegiate (how funny!).

Everything else went well and then came time for the shots he had to get... 4 today! YIKES!! It was not fun at all - in fact, I/Mommy started crying too. We are recovering (don't you like how I put we insted of just Gavin) and he can take Infant Tylenol today (which we have taken to help with the pain) - so hopefully Gavin will be feeling better tomorrow. As a parent it is HORRIBLE to watch your baby get that upset and then not feel good - you just want to make it all better..... but I have a feeling that this "helplessness" I have been feeling today will continue to happen for the rest of his life. In may not be a recovery from shots - but other things that will cause him heartache and pain.....welcome to motherhood!

Does Stacy Have This On????

So today I tried out the Baby Bjourn.... Scott has tried it several times but I hadn't used it yet. (*I used to think parents that wore these looked very silly - but this is yet another thing that I'm now trying as a new parent and now I see how practical it really is.... no matter how silly I look now). It actually is GREAT - especially when you want to have both of your hands free.... and Gavin likes to look out too. This may be a "special" weapon at home when Mommy is trying to multitask around the house..

Watching Daddy Play Soccer

We are introducing soccer to Gavin at a very young age - and how fun to watch his first game with Daddy playing! Not sure how much Gavin "watched" of the game - he was way more interested in the bright lights and all the people. It was fun to meet everyone on his team and we enjoyed spending time with Mark who plays on the team too.

I am Getting Stronger...

Gavin's new thing is that he starting to hold his head up by himself... pretty impressive (or at least we think so). His head still flaps around from time to time - so we have to be careful but he is getting stronger and bigger by the day.... he is all boy for sure.

What to do on a Cold Winter Day

Hang out with my Dad and guess what... watch some TV! Now, please don't think we always put Gavin in front of the television - we do play with him... but I couldn't resist taking this photo. Gavin loves laying on Scott's chest and watching TV... and we are trying to keep warm today. It is days like this that I wish we lived in the south and could be outside....

Enjoying my "Tubby"

When Gavin was first born he did not like being naked nor did he enjoy taking baths (i.e. our code name is "tubby") - however, we have moved on from that. He loves his "tubby" now and being naked (especially when you are changing his diaper...). He started kicking his feet in the water a little bit so I'm sure it will be no time before the splashing of the hands begins...

Hang'in out with the Nawroths

Thanks for great friends.... Scott and I went out on an actual date (dinner and a concert) last night and Janet & Brent (Ella too) were so awesome to babysit Gavin. They took really good care of him - as you can see, he even got to try out the Bumbo for the first time. (The yellow chair-like thing that helps a baby sit up when they are very young....).

From what they told us - he was awake awhile, ate some dinner and then slept for most of the time... that worked out well! I think they have the "special" touch with babies though... and Gavin loved spending time with his friend Ella.

2-months Today!

Gavin is two months old today - we can hardly believe it!

So much has happended in this short amount of time and we can't imagine our lives without him. Thank you Gavin for bringing so much love and joy into our lives.

The "Pouty" Face

We finally caught the "pouty" face on camera. Scott and I laugh everytime he makes this face - and although he is mad - we think it is way too cute. Gavin is VERY dramatic... imagine that!

I love TV

Here is my new position on the couch watching tv.... we think he may be addicted!

New Toy from Grandma Janet

Gavin received this very exciting new toy - used for tummy time (for those of you who do not know this - we didn't either until we had Gavin - tummy time is to encourage your baby to hold their head up and gain more strength in their neck/head). So of course, a toy was created for this. The point is for your baby to lay in the middle and spin around to play with the colored mats. As you can see, Gavin may not be big enough yet - but he will get there. We spun him around ourselves - and clearly got some entertainment from that.

It's All About The Little Things

So there are all these milestones that apparently take place after you have a baby - and we just got to one: the hand-eye-coordination and then "hitting things." Gavin has definitely fell in love with his playmat (and yes, it is on our guest bed for now until he starts moving...). He loves watching the lights change and then all the animal toys that hang down - then all of sudden - he knows how to hit the blue monkey. Yes - we are loving this new "little" thing that Gavin is doing - and because of this we think he is going to be a genius (we are SO new parents).
